Head Coach: Darren Goldberg

Though born in New York City, Coach Goldberg has lived in the DC Metro Area since he graduated Duke University in 1990 and graduated from law school at George Washington University in 1993. Coach Goldberg has lived in Fairfax County since 1997. Coach Goldberg has coached many youth sports, including soccer, baseball, and basketball in Reston Youth sports programs.  Coach Goldberg started Nova 94 in 2012 and coached the Nova 94 Feet 4th Grade Boys in the inaugural 2012 AAU season and the 5th Grade Boys team in the 2013 AAU Season. He coached the Nova 94 Feet 4th Grade Girls team to a silver medal finish in the Potomac Valley AAU Division 1 Regional Championship and a 12th place medal finish at the AAU Division 1 Natioanal Championships. His 5th Grade Girls team in 2016 repeated as Silver Medalists at PVAAU and again competed at AAU D1 Nationals. His 6th Grade Girls team was the Gold Medalist Champion at PVAAU regionals and was very competitive at AAU D1 Nationals. His 7th Grade Girls team finished 10th at AAU D1 Nationals.  His 8th Grade Girls Winter team played in the prestigious, invite-only, MADE Hoops Rose League. Coach Goldberg also coached Reston Girls Division 1 teams in 5th, 6th and 7th Grades in 2016,  2017 and 2018 to FCYBL championships.  He also coached three years with the Great Falls Boys Select Travel teams.  Last season he coached the Nova 94 14U Orange team.

Coach Goldberg’s basketball philosophy is to teach kids, in a fun way, the proper basketball fundamentals, along with concepts of team play. He expects each of his players to utilize these fundamentals and team play concepts while competing, and play as hard as they can during their time on the floor. Coach Goldberg is the founder and President of Nova 94 and serves on the board of directors.
